In my paintings I use symbols emphasizing on allegory. I believe that in this way, a code/vehicle is formed conveying eternal meanings and ideas through the image.
Thus, it is imperative for me to refer to texts, beliefs and traditions that by the passing of time have haunted human subconscious and have captured symbols which can be incorporated in my own artistic myth-making.
Mystic texts of Cultures of the East and West, the World of Shadows of the Ancient Greeks, the Medieval literature ( Dante, Petrarche and others), the Transcendendal realm in general, are a constant inspiration to me, for the realization of pictorially demanding and dynamic paintings.
As early as the Middle Age, the great Flemish painters, namely Bosch, Brueghel, Grünewald and later the Romantics and Goya, dealt with issues concerning paganism, this misty world coming from the depth of Time.
Therefore, I can strongly develop my themes about the eternal battle between Light and Dark with an art that goes beyond the world of reason, an art that is revealing…With the help of Symbolism and allegory, I can detect and depict, the lie, the ugliness, or even the beauty, wherever it exists…
Exploring with my painting these inscrutable worlds, I come to contribute with my knowledge of design, of colour and composition, to a Universal, visionary Museum of Creation.
